Remember when you had a bad dream as a kid? You'd run into your parents room and they'd make it all better.
I had a bad dream last night.
Some guy had kidnapped me (in what I think was a mall) and vowed that he was going to kill me. As he was threatening me, I flagged a security officer down. With the kidnapper beside me, I told the officer what was happening, but the officer laughed at me and walked away. Something told me he just didn't want to fill out the paperwork.
Of course, I woke up before the bad guy ever had a chance to hurt me.
Now, I don't get bad dreams often, but when I do, they always freak me out a little (I suppose I should stop watching criminal investigation shows right before bed ).
When I woke up, I found Andrew sleeping soundly beside me. I nudged him awake and told him I had a nightmare. He asked me what happened in it. I told him someone was trying to kill me. He gave me the best response I could ask for, "That'll never happen. I won't let anyone ever hurt you." Then he hugged me back to sleep.
I have to say, having a bad dream as an adult is a lot easier to deal with than when I was a kid.
You know, besides the fact that I'm old enough to understand that it was just a dream. Seriously, as a kid, I thought those pirates that wanted to push me off the plank were actually going to come find me one day.
What do you do when you have a bad dream?
aww bad dreams are the worst! I just lay there frozen in fear, to be honest lol
ReplyDeleteughh i hate that.. i had a couple of those, and woke up crying like ohh thank god that wasnt real!
ReplyDeleteI live by myself, so no one to snuggle with when I have a bad dream, haha. I usually pray and that always helps!
ReplyDeleteAgh that dream sounds scary! I actually had my first nightmare in a while a few weeks ago. I had taken melatonin and then read a horror book (what was I thinking?!) Apparently a side effect of melatonin is vivid dreams, which I found out that night.
ReplyDeleteahhh i still have bad dreams too and they're the worst! it takes me awhile to shake the creepy feeling after a bad dream.

I hardly ever remember my dreams! There has to be a knack to it that I apparently fail at! xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a horribly hilarious dream :P :|! I don't have anyone to snuggle with (yet) either so I just imagine a good/better ending and that usually "hugs me" back to sleep :). Wish bad dreams didn't ever occur, though!!
ReplyDeletei usually only have 2 kinds of bad dreams:
ReplyDelete1) about school where i'm in class and it's a test day and i totally didn't study! <--this means that i'm anxious about something
2) my husband cheats on me. then i wake up and i'm so pissed at him and don't talk to him for a while.
