10 Everyday Things I Need

As many are spending this week reflecting on what they're thankful for, I'm sharing ten day-to-day things I wouldn't know how to live without.

Ha.
1. Showers

I'm a little OCD when it comes to bathing. In the summer, I sometimes take three showers a day. I can't start my morning without a shower and it's one of the most relaxing things to end my day with.

2. Toothpaste

Like I'm OCD with bathing, I need to brush my teeth multiple times a day. I even have a toothbrush and toothpaste at my desk at work. I always carry gum on me and sometimes mouthwash.

3. My cellphone

It's kind of sad how dependent I've become with my phone. I'd go crazy if I had to give my phone up for a few days. I know I'm lucky to even have a cellphone though.

4. The Internet

Remember when I went without Internet for a month? That was hard. It also taught me how reliant I am on it. If I didn't have data on my phone and Internet at work, I don't know what I would have done (serious first world problems).

5. Fresh air

I love being outside. Okay, maybe not when it's freezing outside. But, I love being able to go for a walk after work, take the dog to the park and go out whenever I want.

6. Work

Work is one of those things that everyone, at some point, says they wish they didn't have to go to. Myself included. But, when I had a day off work to wait for the technician to come set up the Internet, I was bored to tears. I need to go to work to stay busy, make a contribution to society and, of course, bring home the bacon (mmm...bacon).

7. Music

This one is obvious.

8. My bed

Remember when sleepovers were the coolest thing ever? The moment I moved out and bought my own bed, I stopped having sleepovers. I need my bed for a good night's sleep. My bed. Not yours. Mine.

9. Public transportation

I complain about public transportation. A lot. It's crowded. It smells. There's always delays. The people on it can be annoying and rude. But, its saved me over $1000 a year on parking, gas and insurance expenses. It's a finance saver for sure.

10. Water

Can you imagine a day without water? I can't. It's my go-to drink and a main ingredient in any dish I make. Oh and it allows me to have those showers I love so much.

What everyday things could you not live without?

  7. I can't live without my cellphone and sometimes I think I couldn't live without my DVR. There's also this little brush I keep in my shower made for combing through your hair while it's wet after you shampoo. I CANNOT live without that. I have had THREE in my entire life and as soon as one breaks I go out and immediately buy another.

  8. For sure with all of these. I feel the same way about my bed. Even though I love camping, by the time I settle in to go to sleep in a sleeping bag I think, why is this fun? My bed is like an amazing cloud, and this is the hard ground. Why? Even when I stay in nice hotels, it just doesn't compare to my bed...

  10. I agree with most of these, for sure! I love water.. That is really all I drink during the day. When I was pregnant I started drinking Ginger Ale again. Ugh, pop!! Then I got Rob wanting Ginger Ale all of the time.. Finally, we ran out of it and I'm just not going to buy it again and hope that Rob forgets about it. Pop is so bad.. but so damn good.
Phone and internet are MUSTS for me now too. I never used to be that way. Yesterday I couldn't upload pictures to my blog in the morning and I was like a bratty teenager that was being told that I couldn't go to a huge party. I was so mad.. Luckily, I got out of the house for a couple of hours and when I returned all was back to normal.
My hair has to be clean. I can shower every other day. But my sister in law goes... daaaaays without washing her hair. I don't understand it. My hair gets so gross if I didn't wash it for four days. BUT, her hair looks fine.. I can hardly tell that it's not clean.

  14. Skype keeps me connected to my family who live half way around the world from me. I'd be pretty lost without it. And also peanut butter. Sometimes I go months without it and then it's like I can't breathe unless I have peanut butter RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND. I like knowing it's just around.
