Where's the Money?

This morning, I woke up to rain. Rain means dark clouds. Dark clouds means I thought it was still nighttime and that I had a few more hours left to sleep. I didn't. True story.

Friday.

I finally made one of Amanda's (of Rhyme & Ribbons) delicious recipes: Honey Roasted Chicken Breasts! Mine doesn't look as good as hers because 1. I'm not as good of a cook as she is and; 2. I don't have a fancy camera or good lighting in my home. But trust me, it was good! If you'd like to make it yourself, you can find her recipe here.

Saturday.

After cooking the night before, it only seemed fair to go out to eat the next day. Andrew and I found a place near our house that had a patio, so that we could bring the furball, Misty, with us.

We took her for an extra long walk at the park and I may have spent the rest of my night watching her sleep. She's just too cute!

Sunday.

Every year, Toronto has an event called Buskerfest. Every year I want to go, just to see the magicians. There are a ton of other buskers there too (street performers/entertainers) but all I ever care about is the magic tricks.

Is that a police car? Oh no, it's just a car for Sergent Splatters (paintball)
Andrew and I went with Rudy and brought Misty along too.

We had walked up to an intersection and I found that the crowds were a bit too much there. Misty isn't the biggest fan of crowds and I don't like maneuvering my way through them with a big dog. I suggested we start heading back. Just as we turned around, I saw a big crowd forming around someone. It was a magician! Woohoo! I found a magic show!

The show was so good!

The magician asked for a $20 bill from someone in the audience. He had the audience member write his name on the bill. The magician then folded the bill up as small as he could. When he unfolded it, it became a $1 American bill!

He then went on with the show. At the end, the audience member was still waiting for his $20! The magician pointed to a bag that he had on his magic table and reminded the audience that he hadn't touched the bag at all. He pulled out a lemon from it. He then cut the lemon open. Inside the lemon was the $20 bill! Still folded! With the audience members' name on it!

I don't know how it was done (which is why I love magic) but it was so well done!

We spent the rest of the night at the airport, with a few other people, as they worked on the plane and I sat there bored.

Raymond (Andrew's brother), Andrew, myself and Misty
We had an impromptu photoshoot.

Then Misty and I watched the sun set before calling it a night (that's a lie. We then went out to eat and got home way too late and now I want to go back to bed).

How was your weekend?

  3. Thanks for the shout out! Truth be told I don't have a fancy camera either! All of my pics are iphone snaps! Here's the secret I discovered to getting the best food picture: If you have a crap camera and your kitchen is dark, just bring the plate somewhere with sunlight. Depending on the time of the year, I have been known to bring food outside or into another room just to take a decent photo of it. Natural light really makes that much of a difference! Course....if we both could afford amazing cameras we wouldn't need to worry at all! xx

  4. I saw that recipe and wanted to try it. My chicken is usually all bland! Is that a greek salad? Because it looks amazing. And I support the going out to eat after cooking. I rationalize going out to eat so much that I impress myself sometimes. Yay for magician show! I'd be demanding my 20.

  7. It rained so much today and all day at work I was wishing I was in sweatpants at home. True story.

Buskerfest was crazy busy. I didn't see that many due to the crowds sadly but looks like the magician you saw was good!

ps. did you hear about the elderly lady who had her nose sliced off at yonge/dundas sq on Saturday? SO SAD. Our city is cray cray.
