For a good chunk of my childhood, I was convinced I was going to be a cop one day. Every Saturday night I would watch Cops and America's Most Wanted in order to study investigations. Something about catching bad guys really appealed to me. As much as I wanted to be the female Batman, I knew that wasn't going to happen. Being a cop was plan B.
Then somewhere along the lines I became a big ass wuss.
"If you're a cop, you could die."
I could die?? Whoa. Slow down. I don't want to die. I have too much to live for. What will my Polly Pockets and Hot Wheels cars do without me? I mean, the only reason Polly even has her own Hot Wheels car is because of me. I have a lot of responsibilities to take care of that will be nothing without me.
After the cop dream died, I was convinced I was going to be a teacher. That was, until my last day as a student teacher, when I started blubbering like a moron when I had to say bye to my students. Clearly, I was getting too attached to the kids to be a teacher.
Eventually, I decided that a 9-5 mundane office job is for me. I'm not kidding. It totally works for me. Having my weekends off it's pretty sweet too.
Lol , my dreams changed from childhood to dream from being a pilot { I am afraid I might die in crash} to a famous singer . Yet I gave up on being an accountant ;)

I love that you always add the perfect card to go with your posts! I wanted to be a spy, then in the air force for a while surprisingly. Then I got bored of those and decided to be a dancer! (which probably isn't more practical at all)
ReplyDeletewait I am dying! YOU ARE WAY TO SWEET TO BE A COP. thats funny about the teacher job because i get wayyyy to attached to my students too!!
ReplyDeleteps. watching cops/snapped/law and order SVU are my guilty pleasures. gotta love a good investigation
Hahah this post make me laugh so hard! :) I also wanted to become a cop but I figured that I am too easily scared to be one! :D I am such a coward sometimes haha!

I was the weird little kid who was like "i want to fly when I grow up" and adults would be like "oh you want to be a pilot?" and I'd think "no, don't be stupid. I actually want to fly."
ReplyDeleteBut now I'm picturing you as a cop and giggling at it. I had lots of Polly Pockets. I should look for them in the garage...
A cop?! So glad you didn't end up doing that, I don't want you to die!! haha. & I totally understand the getting attached to kids thing. I already know I'm gonna be that way when I teach! lol
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to be a cop too! And sometimes I still do.. Especially when I see people driving like idiots. Too scary though..
ReplyDeleteOh this post. It made me nearly spit out my water. You're brave for being able to watch America's Most Wanted. My mom always watched that show when I was a kid, and it gave me nightmares. The faces haunted me. You wanted to be Batman - I wanted to be Indiana Jones. I think we'd make a great team, fighting crime AND nazi's trying to steal artifacts. ;)
ReplyDeleteI haven't crossed teaching off my list, it's still an option for me, but I too get emotionally attached and cried when I left my 5 year job teaching kiddies.
So where am I now - my 8-5 office job, loving my weekends off :)
We have a lot in common and I love your blog.
