I'm placing my bet now that it won't be (for the record, I'm betting cupcakes. But since I can't afford to fly to wherever it is you live to buy you a cupcake, I will have to buy myself one, if I lose. Or win. Either way, it works for me).
What is being shut down is Google Reader.
This. This is being shutdown. |
What you're probably worried about (in your thought about GFC) is your Google Dashboard. You know, that thing you log into when you go to Blogger.com. If you're like me, you read all the blogs you follow from there. If that got shutdown, that would downright suck.
Why? Because every blog you follow via GFC gets put into your Dashboard. Rest assured though: Google Dashboard is not being shut down. Therefore, your GFC followers should stay where they are. Make sense?
If you're still really worried
I sure hope you're right! With all the confusion, I wish Google would just come out with something saying exactly what will happen - wouldn't that be nice? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to link to your blog in a blog about this whole mess later today - thanks for laying things out!
I couldn't agree more...are they really going to get rid of GFC? I doubt it. If so, I will eat a cupcake with you!
ReplyDeleteI am almost 100% positive that they are NOT getting rid of GFC. Additionally, they aren't getting rid of the dashboard, so you can just read blogs from your homepage if you so desire. I'm not a big fan of Bloglovin', so I've just been reading from the Dashboard lately and it's working pretty well.
ReplyDeleteYou are right! I have never used google reader in my life. I just use the dashboard!
ReplyDeleteI agree, and am not too worried. Everyone seems to be panicking though, and I have heard SO many saying it is. I would be more concerned with losing those following me through GFC - that would really suck! I will take any excuse to eat a cupcake, so I shall buy one on July 1st too!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I love the betting of the cupcake! I want one too!
ReplyDeleteWhen i first signed up for blogger back in February I did some google research first just to see what it was about since I had never done anything like it before. One thing I read about was GFC. From about 10 different sites, I got info that said that GFC had been shut down last March. Like I said, it was everywhere over google's search page. Point? I doubt its getting shut. Google reader seems to be a separate type of thing, which I dont even use either. There's a difference between the two. Cupcakes yes...I'd bet on those anytime :) I'll buy one on July 1st..our grocery store has jumbo ones, so yummy! If make it up there, can we share some then??
ReplyDeleteHolllaaaaaa I'm with you. Ill bet a cupcake too ;)
ReplyDeletei agreeee
ReplyDeleteWell they should be clear then! And i still want my cupcake haha!
ReplyDeleteLove, The mind of an exchange
I agree with you 100%. No one uses google reader, that's why they are closing it. Everyone uses GFC. xx
ReplyDeletehaha! love this..
ReplyDeleteand i am totally in agreement with you.
i think i'll bet a cupcake :)
Agreed. No where anywhere does anything say that GFC or dashboard will shut down.
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny! Yes, I've been so confused about the whole GFC/Google Reader thing. I figure if people really want to read what I'm writing, they'll find a way. ;) Thanks for clarifying a little! Hope you have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI have been so confused also!! Thanks for clearing this up for me!!!! I might just eat a cupcake just because... :)
ReplyDeletei totally thought the same as you...that gfc would still be sticking around! :) i'm glad you made it clear!! i don't use google reader...just my main dashboard.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing, gf! xoxoxox
