Lesson Learned (Weekend Recap)

I can't understand where the weekend goes. It's Monday already? Weekend recap time!

Friday.

I went out for Winterlicious. Winterlicious allows you to try some of the really nice restaurants in Toronto at really good prices. They're generally three course meals and generally really, really good. This one did not disappoint. Kale Caesar salad with shrimp, fish cake topped with an egg and a cheesy chocolate cannoli. So good!

Saturday.

After a good workout and a bit of relaxation, Andrew and I headed out to a networking event. There we met up with his brother, Raymond, and Jerome (who we haven't seen in forever!). Man, was I glad they were there. Although some people at the event were actually there to network, not everyone was. After a guy told me I had my name tag on wrong and proceeded to "correct" it by putting it on my, uh, chest area, I had enough. I was uncomfortable and wanted to leave.

So, the four of us went to Hey Lucy where we had an amazing sharing platter and had a much better time.

Lesson learned: never go to networking events alone (unless of course, you know the legitimacy of the event. Or other people that will be there). It's nice to have someone there to bail you out when things get awkward.

Sunday.

The next couple weekends are going to be pretty busy for us so I was happy to spend the day at home with Andrew doing absolutely nothing. Sometimes those are my favourite kind of days.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

  3. I'm awful at networking. I would be terrified to go at all, much less alone. I'm so awkward in any situation.

  6. I think that many networking events are just awkward in general. Like, I like the idea of networking, but I don't like the feeling of forced conversation, and it all feels so phony to me. I'm glad you had people with you so that you could ditch the event and go for some yummy food!

  10. I hate networking. I know how important it is, but small talk just bores me. Winterlicious, however, is something I can definitely get on board with! x

  14. Networking events are awful but a good thing lol. Matthew attends a lot of these events and loves it when I go, so I try to keep a smile on my face and just go with it but sometimes I just have to tell him it's time to GO.

  15. Nothing days are my favorite! I try to dedicate at least half of one of the weekend days to just doing nothing. I'm definitely someone who needs to recharge since I feel so nonstop during the week. Also, you always have really great food pictures!
