I had a blog post half ready for today. It needed to be
edited and a few things had to be added. I was all set to do that last
night... Until I got home and realised I was locked out of my apartment.
Let me start from the beginning; I gave up on my morning workouts (it's so cold out that an
extra hour in a warm bed is important to me), so I've been going to the
gym on my hour-long lunch break.
My gym pass is on my keychain.
Yesterday, I went to the gym on my lunch, threw my keychain in my gym bag, did my workout, showered and went back to work.
I had intended to do some grocery shopping after work, so when work was finished, I
grabbed my wallet and left my gym bag at work (if you think I'm
carrying a gym bag plus heavy grocery bags, you're nuts. Plus, I had
clean clothes for another workout in my gym bag).
I did my grocery shopping, got home then fished through my pocket for my keys.
The keys that I left at work.
Shit.
I called Andrew. For that brief moment, I totally forgot
that on Tuesday nights he teaches cadets for the Royal Canadian Air
Force. Luckily for me, he said he could come home and let me in. I'd
just have to wait.
So wait I did.
I ended up getting into my apartment an hour and half later
than usual. It's not a big deal, I know. But it threw my evening off
and I just wanted to watch New Girl and The Mindy Project (both of which were epic) and shut my brain
off.
Oh, and as I was in the shower last night, putting shampoo
in my hand to lather my hair with (yes, I took two showers yesterday. I
didn't wash my hair at the gym), I realized I left my bodywash in the
gym shower. Then I realized I was lathering my body - not my hair - with the shampoo.
Sigh.
So instead of getting a real post, today you get this rant about how I'm an idiot.
Does your day get thrown off by being forgetful?
I got locked out of my locker once by accident. and I couldnt get into my condo for my spare keys because obviously I locked it before I went downstairs! I ended up having to take the stairs (because u need a fob for the elevator) to the visitors parking lot, where I was able to buzz the concierge to come rescue me! I dont know what I would have done if we didnt have one. hahahah
ReplyDeleteI remember one time my key broke off in the lock at my apartment because it was freezing cold outside. It was like 5pm. Maintenance couldn't get there to let us in until 10pm. WTF? So, yeah, our whole night was gone and our dog couldn't be let out until 5 hours later than normal. IT WAS BAD.
ReplyDeleteone time i left my work badge at home. i get into the office at 7am, about 1-1.5hrs earlier than everyone else. so i had to sit there and wait. it totally threw my morning off and i was so pissed at myself because my morning routine is sacred.

Been there!! It happens. I've lost both my house key and my mailbox key (on different occasions) while walking Pippa. One time my cousin and I went out and left both our keys at the apartment. Our keys were key cards like at hotels, so the door locked behind us. We sat outside our apartment at 2 a.m. waiting for the courtesy officer to come let us in and had to pay him like $40 just to slide a card into the door.
ReplyDeleteAll the freakin' time! Don't worry, you're not alone.
ReplyDeleteAw that sucks! The longest post I have ever written on my blog was a rant about a terrible day (where I also got locked out) so I totally get you. Hope you're having a good day today! :)
ReplyDeleteahh that is the worst!!!! im so sorry! at least it all worked out!
ReplyDeletestory of my life. except mine was opposite yesterday. I got home and the front door was unlocked so i made my best friend stay on the phone with me while i checked every room for a murderer only to realize i forgot to lock it when i left for work that morning...
ReplyDeleteI has never happened to me!! Please don't tell me that you were waiting outside in the cold??
ReplyDeleteWhere did you wait at? I feel your pain because New Girl and Mindy are the best things on tv. He'd be really embarrassed if I told this story on the internet (but I will anyway) but when Sam and I first started dating, he was living the house I shared with my girlfriends after we all had left, so I let him put my keeps through the mail slot. Which he did. Before he got outside (we had two doors- a glass one and then the real one) and found himself locked in a tiny porch room until I could leave class and free him---5 hours later! x
ReplyDeleteah man i was so close to locking myself out of the apartment was brad was in indiana! i don't know what i would have done to get back in all our windows are up on a second floor.
ReplyDeleteLol YES (the life of a college student)
ReplyDeleteOh that sucks. I have done some similiar key forgetten myself lately.
ReplyDeleteI hate when things like that throw off my entire day!! I'm pretty good about rolling with the punches- but when something changes my whole schedule for the day- not cool!
ReplyDeleteNew Girl was cute. I love how crazy Winston is.
ReplyDeleteOh man, I feel like if one thing goes wrong in the morning when I'm getting ready, the rest of the events are like dominoes and my morning comes crashing down. lol
Oh man, not good! Even when it's not a massive, long inconvenience, it still really throws you off for the whole day!
ReplyDeleteWe all have those days where things just don't go right! I have done that so often and then days later you think - what was I thinking?
ReplyDeleteBeing locked out of your house is so defeating. The first week I moved to Kentucky I somehow locked myself out of my new house in a state I only new one person (and that person was at work!) and on top of everything it was supposed to be my very first day of work. As I closed the locked door behind me I realized my keys were inside (oh and my car and house key are together!) Not the best way to start my new life in Kentucky. Long story short...I understand how you feel and it sucks!
ReplyDeleteThere is noooothing worse than getting locked out of the house! I've done that before. At least with the car you can get the cops or AAA to get you in. At home... you're screwed!
ReplyDeleteBless your heart!! Nothing like being locked out to mess up your night. I'm glad Andrew was able to come let you in. This reminds me of a time when Matthew was living in his dorm and he had to go down the hall to shower in the public dorm bathroom and his brother locked the door to their dorm room and left so there Matthew was in nothing but a towel and no phone to call anyone LOL. He ended up having to go ask someone to borrow their phone to call his brother so he could come unlock the door. Seriously that story never gets old so just be glad you weren't locked out in a towel!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, what a night! I don't think this has ever happened to me BUT I have locked my keys in my car. Several times. We are getting caught up on New Girl this weekend, can't wait! That gif is hilarious, I love Nick!
ReplyDeleteYeah, this sounds familiar... My whole life is an endless stream of forgotten keys, misplaced items and general mayhem. I feel your pain -- but you know what? At least it keeps life interesting. I'd rather have a confusing, forgetful, but at least different day than live life in a rut of routine.
