She Stepped On My Face

It's Spring, right? It sure doesn't feel like it. Onto the weekend recap!

Friday.

Gym.

Saturday.

Woke up early to go to the gym, then met up with some friends for lunch.

We went to a vegetarian/gluten free restaurant which was pretty good. Truth be told, I think Fresh is better.

After a 3 hour lunch (it was spent catching up), I went home. As I killed time waiting to meet up with Jerome, I made Andrew get snap chat so I could bug him while he was at work.

Mmm..protein bars.
 Many selfies were taken.

When Jerome arrived, it was time for a carb filled dinner.

I had the delicious pasta
We went to one of my favourite restaurants ever, Grazie. Their food is SO good!

Andrew joined us when he finished work. Just in time for a selfie.

Sunday.

I got together with Eliane to get alterations done to my bridesmaids dress for her wedding.

After the alterations, we went to her place for a delicious meal.

Later in the afternoon, I met up with Andrew and Misty. We took her to park for a long walk. During the walk I, of course, managed to slip on the ice and fall. Misty went to check on me when I fell. Unfortunately for me, Andrew had a stick in his hand, which distracted her and caused her to step on my face.

A passerby told us he wasn't fast enough with his phone to record it and get it on YouTube. Thanks...

Shots, Selfies & Weights

I woke up to a cold morning; I'm hoping this is the end of cold days! Onto the weekend recap.

I honestly can't remember what I did on Friday. Let's skip to Saturday.

Saturday.

I started my morning off by doing a Body Step class, which was all kinds of great and reminded me that I have no sense of coordination.

That night, Andrew and I headed to Anjru's for a small house party.

Mine is the MK watch on the left
There, one of Anjru's friends, Cindy, discovered how similar our watches were.

This was drank. Food was ate.

Shots were done.

Selfies were taken.

Which turned into an awesome group selfie.

It was a great night.

Sunday.

I met Jerome at the gym where we did an hour of cardio.

Then we headed over to the weights. After doing months of cardio, I noticed I wasn't seeing results. I knew I needed to incorporate weights into my routine but I was nervous. Particularly because I had no idea what I was doing.

Jerome patiently taught me different workouts and prevented me from having a breakdown when I struggled to do them correctly (remember my lack of coordination? It's frustrating). My form is much better now and I'm hoping I'll be successful with the workouts when Jerome isn't around.

After the gym, we went to the most non-Irish bar (St. Louis) ever in hopes of getting some green beer (truth be told, it was the only bar in the area with free parking).

His glass is green. His beer is not.
Our waitress told us they didn't have any green dye yet, so I reunited myself with my love, the Caesar.

There aren't many healthy options at St. Louis, but we were famished. Normally, I would have finished all of that without a second thought. But, since lately I've been really trying to focus on eating healthy, I just couldn't do it. Many fries did not make it to my tummy.

My goal this week is to successfully do weights on my own, without being nervous!

Spin Class Hurts + Weekend Recap

This weekend was fairly quiet - and I'm okay with that. Onto the recap.

Friday.
A friend came over and kicked Andrew's ass in video games, while I sat back with a glass of wine and watched.

Saturday.

I took my first Spin class and it kicked my butt. Literally. My butt hurt so much after. So much so that it hurt to sit. Has anyone else taken Spin? Has this happened to you?

We went to Spoon and Fork for a friend's birthday. For those that don't know, Spoon and Fork is an all-you-can-eat (off the menu) restaurant, which apparently is hard to organize with a big group, particularly when there are people who don't want all-you-can-eat. After a few bumps in getting things organized, we were finally able to order. And order we did.

I didn't take a picture of all of our food because I was too busy stuffing my face, but you can imagine there was a lot.

Apparently I was the only one who had a nice enough camera on their phone to use for a group shot. Considering the pictures didn't come out very well, I find that hard to believe.

Oh, and shots happened at home at some point.

Sunday.

I met up with a friend for dinner. After having all-you-can-eat the night before, I really wanted something healthy, so we went to Fresh. She loved it. I loved it. We're going back again soon.

I hope you all had a nice weekend!

Pizza & Dresses

After having one busy weekend after another, this was a weekend to relax (and hide from the cold. When I left the house this morning, it was -20 out. It is March, right?).

Friday.

Andrew brought home pizza and the two of us did nothing.

Saturday.

For the most part, I try to eat pretty healthy. I made some vegetarian stuffed peppers in the slow cooker, then a couple of Andrew's friends showed up at our place. We all shared the peppers (and salad. Suckers). I was feeling brave and willing to brace the cold to go to Snakes and Lagers (a place where you play board games while drinking). Apparently, no one else was willing to face the cold, so we played Jenga and ordered more pizza.

Andrew left mid way to go a conference (of sorts) and his friends fell asleep on my couch before deciding it was time to go home. I was not impressed (are we that old?).

Andrew brought me flowers to make it all better.

Sunday.

The dress she chose is not pictured
One of my best friends, Eliane, is getting married in July and asked me to be her bridesmaid. Sunday, we actually went shopping for a bridesmaid dress (after a failed attempt last month). Can I just say what a wonderful friend she is? Her sister and I grabbed a couple of dresses and brought them to the change room. After trying the first one on, Eliane said, "That's it. That's the one. Okay, we're done here. Let's go eat."

Seriously? I only had to try on one dress? Girl, I love you.

After grabbing a bite to eat, I went home and braced the cold so Andrew and I could go for a walk with Misty. We didn't last too long though.

Seriously, can someone let Mother Nature know that it's March now and these below freezing temperatures are not appreciated? Ktnx.

When Montrealers Come to Toronto

This was a super busy and amazing weekend. As I mentioned in my post on Friday, one of our favourite couples, Vic and Chris, came all the way from Montreal to stay with us for the weekend. Let's get to the recap!

Friday.
Us at Second City
I left work early to surprise them, but that didn't turn out the way I had expected. Instead, I picked up some groceries and made dinner for everyone. We ate together and spent a good while trying to decide what to do for the night. We finally decided to go to Second City, which was probably the best decision ever.
The stage at Second City
The show was, in short, hilarious (as always). The jabs at Rob Ford, Canada Post and the "scandals in our neighborhood" skit were all perfect. If you live in Toronto, go see it. Now.

Saturday.

After breakfast, we Andrew drove us to Niagara Falls (it's about an hour and a half from Toronto).
It was cold.
As much as I love Niagara Falls, the truth is, it's just a big tourist trap. After checking out the falls, we agreed to only do one attraction while we were there. Since I love haunted houses and Vic hadn't been through many, I suggested we do Nightmares Fear Factory, which is by far the scariest haunted house I've been through.

After a bad experience with the person that worked there, we entered the haunted house. From the moment we entered, we couldn't stop laughing. Chris was insistent that he didn't like this, "Guys, you think I'm joking, but I'm not. I really don't like this." I half expected him to yell the safe word which would have forced the actors to escort us out, but he didn't.

Instead, we made it through the whole house. Like champs. Obviously.

When we were done, I was starving. We drove back to Toronto, stopping at a Mucho Burrito along the way. We then went to their friend's house (who, for the record, lives above a massage parlor, which was all kinds of confusing at first. But, their friends place was really nice!) who made some really yummy cupcakes. Then we called it a night!

Sunday.

After breakfast, which consisted of pancakes with Trix cereal thrown in (it's gross), we played a really intense game of Jenga (Andrew lost. Twice).
We then met up with another one of their friends and went to the ice festival that was happening downtown.

Chris is a silly guy
It was really, really cold out so we didn't last very long there. After taking forever to figure out where to go eat, we finally decided on a really cool looking Mexican restaurant in the Distillery District.

Although the food tasted really good, we were still pretty hungry after eating.

Hunger aside, it was time for Andrew to take Chris and Vic up for a flight!

We flew around the CN Tower a few times and saw some pretty amazing views.

Vic, Chris and me!
When we landed, we all took lots of pictures together with Andrew's plane.

Andrew keeps me warm
But, it was really, really cold out. So, we ate some Chipotle and called it a night.

I'm so glad that Andrew and I got to spend the weekend with Chris and Vic. I can't wait until we get to spend another one with them!

NYC and a Blate!

Long weekends are my favourite. Long weekends that involve traveling to an amazing city and spending time with amazing people are a dream come true. Be prepared for a picture heavy (and long) post as I recap my weekend! There's even more pictures on my Instagram! @alexonig

Friday was uneventful. Let's skip ahead to Saturday.

Saturday.

Andrew and I woke up super early, pumped and ready to go to NYC. We headed to the airport, met up with Jerome, then hopped into Andrew's aircraft.

After a long flight of me complaining that I had to pee, we successfully landed in NJ. A stop for food was mandatory. Unfortunately, we took the locals advice on a place to eat at and it wasn't very good. I was too excited for our next stop to really care though.

After lunch, Andrew drove me to Elizabeth's house. She's one of my favourite bloggers and I was so happy she invited me to stay with her. Considering we had never met before, a part of me worried it might be awkward. But, something only other bloggers can understand is that, it wasn't awkward at all! I felt like I had known her forever and we were just catching up things.

The boys left so we had the night to ourselves.

So, we went out for dinner.

Then got wine (and in typical blogger fashion, took pictures in the liquor store).

Then took selfies. They're necessary. Of course.

I made friends with Elizabeth's cat, Squishy Oliver.

We then watched a movie and talked the night away. It was a perfect night.

Sunday.

Car selfies are also necessary.
I was ready to play tourist. As were Andrew and Jerome. And Elizabeth!

We met up with the boys in the morning and headed off to Times Square.

We then hung out with Leo.

Had way too much fun hosting MTNY Entertaiment News.

Went up the Statue of Liberty.

Went down stairs to a fake subway.

Andrew and I starred in a Bollywood movie.

I agreed to be the first Canadian President (just kidding).

We hung out with the Obama's.

Then we got lunch.

With full bellies, we explored the Lego store.

Then toured the Rockefeller Center.

Went up to the top of it in a really cool elevator.

Then walked 20 blocks to go up to the top of the Empire State Building.

We were cold at times but it was all worth it. We warmed up with a late dinner/snacks before calling it a night. A really good night.

I said a tired bye to Elizabeth and spent the night at a hotel with Andrew and Jerome. At the hotel, we agreed that we would have to come back to NYC soon!

Monday.

Our intention was to leave early on Monday. But, we woke up late and I wanted to go to Best Buy to buy the Google Chromecast and Jerome wanted to get the Google Chromebook. So, off to a mall we went. Where we spent a really long time at. Particularly in Target.

Of course, we couldn't leave before having one last awesome meal in Queens at the Outback Steakhouse. $9.99 steaks? Um, yes please!

All the plastic bags on the cart are from Target.
Eventually we made it to the airport and took off for home.

As amazing as NYC was, one of my favourite parts about this weekend was that I got to meet Elizabeth. I never knew that blogging about my life would lead me to some really awesome people; but I'm so glad it has!
